Local Business Schema Generator: what to know
LocalBusiness markup describes a business with a physical location: its name, type, address, phone number, opening hours, coordinates and website. The local business schema generator builds that as JSON-LD you can add to your home page or contact page, using a specific subtype such as Restaurant or Dentist when one fits.
Google requires only the name and address for local business markup, and recommends telephone, url, geo coordinates, openingHoursSpecification, priceRange and an image. The markup helps Google connect your website with the business and its details. It's not a shortcut to the local map results, which depend mostly on your Google Business Profile, how relevant and close you are to the searcher, and how well known the business is.
Consistency matters more than volume. Use the same business name, address and phone number on your site, in the markup and on your Business Profile. If you have several locations, give each its own page with its own LocalBusiness markup rather than listing every branch on one page.
Popular uses
- Adding business details to a home or contact page
- Marking up each branch's location page
- Publishing opening hours in a machine-readable form
- Checking the markup a website builder generates
Tips for the best result
- Write the phone number with the country code, such as +1-555-010-0199.
- Use 24-hour times for opening hours, such as 09:00 to 17:30.
- Update the markup when hours change, especially for holidays.
