Bulk Title & Description Checker: what to know

The bulk title and meta description checker reviews a whole list of pages at once. Paste a crawl export, a spreadsheet column or a plain list, and every row gets its title and description measured in characters and estimated pixels, a status (good, short, cut off or missing) and a flag when the same title or description appears on more than one page. It's the quick way to find the pages worth fixing first after a crawl, a migration or a CMS template change.

Lengths are measured the way the single title tag checker and meta description checker do it: in Arial, the font Google's results use, against the approximate limits of about 600 pixels for desktop titles and 920 pixels for desktop descriptions, with tighter mobile limits a click away. Duplicates are matched after ignoring case and extra spaces. Remember that these limits are approximations and that Google may rewrite a title or show a snippet from the page instead of your description. Everything runs in your browser, so you can paste a client's export without uploading it.

Popular uses

  • Finding duplicate titles across a site after a crawl
  • Spotting titles that get cut off in search results
  • Checking a CMS template's output on hundreds of pages
  • Reviewing new titles and descriptions in a spreadsheet before they go live
  • Finding pages with a missing or one-line meta description

Tips for the best result

  • Export url, title and description from your crawler and paste the file as it is: header rows, quotes and tabs are handled.
  • Filter by one problem at a time, fix it in your CMS, then paste the new export to confirm.
  • Duplicate titles on pagination or filter pages are often better solved with a canonical than with new titles.
  • Copy the results as CSV to share a fix list; nothing is saved here when you close the tab.

Frequently asked questions

CSV, tab-separated text copied from a spreadsheet, or one title per line. The columns are url, title and description, in that order or named in a header row, so crawler exports with columns like Address, Title 1 and Meta Description 1 paste as they are. Quoted fields with commas work. Up to 1,000 rows at a time.

Two rows count as duplicates when their titles, or their descriptions, match after ignoring upper and lower case and extra spaces. Duplicate titles make pages hard to tell apart in results and are a common reason Google rewrites them, so give every page its own.

Google cuts titles and descriptions by width, not by character count: roughly 600 pixels for desktop titles and 920 pixels for desktop descriptions, less on mobile. Pixel widths here are estimates in Arial and the limits are approximations, and Google may rewrite a title or pick its own snippet anyway.

No. The text, HTML, files and images you paste or open are processed on your device and are not sent to our server or stored. The five URL tools (SEO audit, indexability checker, redirect checker, HTTP header checker and broken link checker) are the exception: they send the URL you enter to our server, which requests that public page (and, for the broken link checker, each link on it) and returns what it received to your browser to check. The URL and the page aren't stored or logged. The optional Import from URL in the meta tag, Open Graph and Twitter card generators works the same way.

Yes. Every tool is free with no sign-up and no limits on use. Clearly labeled ads keep it that way.

They help you get the details right: tags that are complete and valid, previews that read well, files crawlers can parse. No tool can guarantee rankings; those depend on your content, your site and how search engines evaluate them.
