SEO Audit Tool: what to know
The SEO audit checks one live page from its URL and puts everything in a single report: whether the URL answers with 200 or goes through redirects, how fast the server starts responding, HTTPS and the SEO-relevant response headers, the title, meta description, robots rules, canonical, hreflang, headings, images, links, social tags and structured data in the HTML, how much visible text there is and how readable it is, whether robots.txt lets Googlebot crawl the URL, and whether the site's sitemap can be read and is valid.
Here is how it works. Your browser sends the URL to our server, which requests the page, the site's robots.txt and its sitemap from the public internet, following redirects one hop at a time, and returns what it received. The checks then run in your browser with the same engines as the meta tags analyzer, robots.txt tester, sitemap validator, keyword density and readability checkers. Neither the URL nor the page is stored or logged. Local addresses and private networks are refused, and there's a fair-use limit on how many checks one visitor can run per minute.
Read the results with two caveats. The audit reads the raw HTML and doesn't run JavaScript, so pages that build their content with JavaScript may show more in a browser and to Google, which renders pages. And the score is our own summary of the findings (errors cost 12 points, warnings 5, notes 1), not a Google metric: a page can score 100 and still not rank, because rankings depend on content, links and how search engines judge them. Response times are measured from our server, so they show the server's speed, not what a visitor on a phone will see.
Popular uses
- Checking a page right after it goes live
- Finding a stray noindex, a wrong canonical or a robots.txt block
- Seeing a competitor's or client's on-page basics in one place
- Spotting redirect chains and slow server responses
- Making a quick to-do list before a fuller site crawl
Tips for the best result
- Fix errors first: a noindex, a 4xx or 5xx status or a robots.txt block can keep a page out of search on its own.
- Audit the exact URL you link to, including https and www, so the redirect chain is the one visitors get.
- If the word count looks too low, the page probably renders with JavaScript; compare with the rendered HTML in your browser's developer tools.
- Use Copy report to paste the findings into a ticket or an email.
Read how JustYourSEO works and our privacy details. The URL you enter is sent to our server, which requests that public page and returns it to your browser to check. Neither the URL nor the page is stored or logged.
